* Want to know why you need to make sure you are searching credible sites, take a look at this:
* Take the guessing game out of your research, only research from credible sites. The sites listed below are credible sources:
Gale databases curated for our school to meet any of your research needs! Dive into science, social studies, history, literature and more to find authoritative reference content alongside magazine and journal articles, primary sources, videos, audio podcasts and images! These databases are continuously updated to provide current information.
* If you are going to surf the World Wide Web instead of using a scholarly database, don’t forget to:
Do the C.R.A.P. (Currency, Reliability, Authority, and Purpose/Point of View) Test for online sources. Click on the below link for a handout of the C.R.A.P. Test: Web Evaluation - The C.R.A.P. Test .
Print the pages, including the URL address and the date you retrieved the information, that you are using - web pages go up and down constantly, and if you cite that source and your teacher/professor goes to check it and it is gone, you will have verification that is was there the day you researched. If printing from a database, also write down the name of the Database on your print out.
If you must surf the Internet for sites, use URLs that end in .edu, .gov, .mil, or .org (but always be aware of bias and/or political agendas) –be aware that .com = commercial.
* You must cite all sources that you use to write your paper in a bibliography (reference page) at the end of your paper. See the Writing a Research Paper Help tab for more information and online sources.
